HEAnet Special Award, BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition 2025
The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) was held at the RDS in Dublin from January 8 to 11, 2025. As part of the prestigious awards presented at the event, the HEAnet Special Award was conferred by Aoife Farrell, School Project Manager at HEAnet, to Niall Hennessy, a fifth-year student from St. Andrew’s School in Dublin. Hennessy’s project, titled “Identification of Potential New Treatments for Pancreatic Cancer,” was entered in the Biological and Ecological category.
This year, HEAnet Special Award recognises students who demonstrate the most practical and innovative use of network technology in performing background research and/or collaborating with team members, teachers, and other supporters of their project.
The event was officially opened by President Michael D. Higgins, marking the 61st anniversary of celebrating STEM research and innovation. HEAnet takes pride in its longstanding support for the BTYSTE, recognising the importance of nurturing and rewarding the next generation of innovators to drive future technological advancements.
