HEAnet to Host Security Forum Addressing AI and Cybersecurity in Education
HEAnet is set to host a pivotal Client Security Forum on Tuesday, 29th April 2025, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity within the education sector. The event, scheduled from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, will take place in a hybrid format—both in-person at the HEAnet office in Dublin and online via Microsoft Teams—allowing broad participation from institutions across Ireland’s research and education community.
The forum will convene a range of cybersecurity experts and stakeholders to discuss pressing challenges such as AI-powered cyber threats, evolving compliance obligations, and the long-term governance of digital systems. It aims to provide participants with actionable insights and strategies to reinforce institutional resilience against emerging cyber risks.
A key highlight of the event is a session led by Rida Villanueva of Cyberhealth Services (CHS). Titled “AI Governance: Frameworks and Strategies in Education,” the session will offer a deep dive into governance models tailored to the education sector. It will highlight internationally recognised standards, including ISO 42001 and the EU AI Act, offering institutions strategic guidance on building sustainable and policy-aligned AI oversight structures.
This forum is being offered free of charge to HEAnet clients; however, due to limited capacity, early registration is strongly advised.
