About eduroam Visitor Access (eVA)
In higher education and research institutions, it is often necessary to provide temporary internet connectivity to visitors involved in educational or research activities. This includes guest speakers, conference delegates, summer school students, and visitors from other schools and colleges.
HEAnet clients who are eduroam Identity Providers can now avail of the eduroam Visitor Access service. The service offers a cost-effective solution to ensure a seamless connectivity experience for visitors to your campus who do not have their own eduroam accounts.

How can eduroam Visitor Access Help You?
It enables you to provide temporary credentials for accessing the eduroam network already established in your institution.
Visitors have secure access to your network
You receive visitors who want access to your Wi-Fi networks. With eVA, you can easily give them a Wi-Fi connection to your own secure and reliable network.
Easy to use
An employee of your institute creates a temporary eduroam account for your visitor in a web portal. Once the account is created, the visitor will receive an email or SMS with their personal login details and can immediately access the network.
You maintain overview and control
You know exactly how many and which visitors are on your network. Additionally, you can determine the duration of validity for eduroam guest accounts, allowing you to maintain control and an overview.
Save time and money
eVA allows the management of eVA accounts through a user-friendly self-service web portal. The service supports time-limited accounts that are automatically deactivated upon expiration, simplifying account management and reducing the workload of IT managers.
Compared to deploying a dedicated wireless network for each event, eVA provides substantial cost and time savings, with only a single annual charge.
A smooth experience for visitors
A personalised process allows you to tailor credential issuance for specific events. For example, pre-booked conference delegates can receive their credentials in advance via text or email. Additionally, there are no splash pages required.
Instead of making visitors repeatedly connect through a splash page, seamless access to eduroam is provided for the duration of validity of their credentials.
