Rory is the Head of Information Systems in Kildare County Council since July 2019. Previously Rory held the position of Information Systems manager in Maynooth University. He held various IT manager roles in Wyeth Medica (Pfizer) Newbridge from 1996 to 2008. Prior to Wyeth he worked in various IT roles in both Ireland and the USA. For the last 15 years Rory also lectures part time in IT Carlow (School of lifelong learning) in the areas of IT for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Rory has both a National Cert and Diploma in computing from IT Carlow, an undergraduate certificate in Business Administration from Northeastern University in Boston, attaining both membership and Chartered IT professional status through the British Computer Society and subsequently gained an MBA (Technology Management) from the Open University and a professional Diploma in Innovation from Maynooth University.
