An overview of the technical challenges and lessons learned from migrating 1000 routers from PPPoE connectivity to higher bandwidth point to point circuits via remote Juniper configuration replacement.

The talk will go through the rationale of the migration project, starting with the the initial state of the networks, how we validated the installations after handover from the providers, establishing the technical challenges of the migration, and how we overcame them utilising Ansible and Python scripting.

The talk will also cover post migration checks and monitoring of the devices and circuits using Smokeping, Cacti and Nagios.
