In this workshop we will cover the lessons learned and technical practicalities involved in setting up and operating a shared storage service at an institutional level based on what we have learned in the IRLDAT project. We will go into the details of how different installations can work together in a distributed/federated fashion. We will cover our experience using a shared storage service with AWS and lessons learned in the IRLDAT project tuning the setup to handle larger file syncs from desktop clients. This section will also cover upgrade guidelines. We will cover storage options for a shared storage service and the advantages/implications of various options.
